Examples of Texture Stimulus Displays

used in Cook & Wixted's Experiments

The same and different texture displays used in this experiment were basically the same as tested in many of our experiments.the same displays consisted of the repetition of a single element throughout the 24 x 16 array. In the Different displays, an 8 x 8 region of contrasting elements (differing in color or shape) was randomly located within this larger display. The identity of the 10 colors and 10 shapes used to create these displays was randomized from trial to trial. The examples below are very close to the size shown to the pigeons.
